The MIGHTY KBC on 9925 Khz
On Saturday nights at 00:00 utc to 03:00 utc The MIGHTY KBC plays great music with a great signal into North America. With a library of top hits that span the decades, you won't be disappointed. Peter Quinn is the DJ tonight followed by Uncle Eric.
KBC is the brainchild of former pirate broadcaster Eric van Willegen, who says he used to broadcast from Dutch high-rise apartments and ships at sea until he grew weary of being raided by the authorities.
Recently, The MIGHTY KBC has been running test broadcasts to North America on 9925 Khz. Their regular english language broadcast is on 6095 Khz. Shortwave is far more popular in Europe than in the United States. Lots of European vehicles have car radios that cover the shortwave bands, so it makes sense that The Mighty KBC is popular amongst the European truckers and people who can travel across the continent while listening to great music.

HMO1 Spy number station
HMO1 is a Cuban spy numbers station that transmits digital files. The station has been speculated to be transmitting from the same building as Radio Habana Cuba. I don't believe that anyone (other than the intended receiving station) has ever been able to decode these messages. It's fun, and a little creepy, to hear these stations.

SW and MW blog
Greetings from northern Minnesota. I have been a radio enthusiast for nearly 40 years. When I was real young, a friend of my father's, had an old Zenith cathedral style radio with an amazing dial. When we would visit, he'd tune through the dial to find some background music. Hearing all the foreign languages and the variety of stations hooked me in.
Over the years, I have spent many hours listening to broadcasts of all kinds. I also enjoy tinkering with electronics. I have built a lot of my own radio gear and enjoy restoring old radios.
My current listening station consists of an Icom 746pro, a 102 foot doublet antenna, and a Eton E1XM with the Wellbrook ALA1530 loop antenna. Over the years, I've discovered that the antenna is the most important part of your receiving station. Loops are my favorite antennas, because they are far less susceptible to electrical noises than wire dipoles or end fed antennas.
Over time, I will post my impressions of radio equipment, as well as my reception activity. I hope to provide information on stations I am hearing, and describe their content.
I hope that you find my blog interesting and informative.
